United State of Mind by Trower, Priest and Browne is a work of art, cutting edge and ahead of its time. The musicianship is superb, as are the nine tracks. The album is a brilliant mix of contemporary blues and R&B with hints of rock, showcasing Priest’s soulful, silky vocals, Trower’s emotive guitar playing, and Livingstone’s ‘Midas touch’ on production.
My only regret is that I didn’t review United State of Mind earlier. A trio of musicians you might not necessarily put together, they blend their unique sounds to create an album of singular beauty. When three legendary artists come together to create a sound all their own, it doesn’t always work out the way it does on United State Of Mind by Robin Trower, Maxi Priest and Livingstone Brown released Octoon Manhaton Records.
